A2D2 Stream: Pete’s Analogue to Digital Audio Innovation
Share
Pete, an experienced sound engineer, presents the story of how the A2D2 Stream was developed in this video. Pete started this project because he wanted to merge analogue audio equipment with digital streaming technology while pursuing his goal of creating pure high-fidelity sound.
He expresses how his technical background and subsequent drive to imbue his work with excellent sound quality has poured into the creation of A2D2 Stream, how it preserves audio integrity and improves the listening experience for audiophiles and casual listeners alike.
He mentions that it functions perfectly with iOS and Android devices to provide high-quality audio streaming from analogue sources to speakers of all types, including wired, wireless and grouped configurations. The A2D2 Stream functions as a straightforward yet effective connection point between vinyl's analogue warmth and contemporary streaming convenience.

Interviewer: I'm here with Peter Fealey, the inventor of A2D2 Stream and I just wanted your backstory. Tell us a bit about who you are and we can talk about the product in a minute.
Pete: Okay, so sure, I spend some of my time working on product development, agency. I also spend some of my time out on the road as a sound engineer for touring bands. At Home I've got a pretty big record collection and a pretty nice turntable. I found that the turntable was languishing in a corner because my house is filled with smart speakers and my kind of old fashioned as they were and speakers, it is way in a box in a garage. So I still wanted to listen to my records.
Interviewer: Yeah
Pete: And I didn't want to have to get any of my old kit out. So, I looked at what was about on the market. There was one product and it only works on one manufacturer's ecosystem and it was at the time almost 500 pounds.I didn't want to spend that on one item.
Interviewer: Understandable
Pete: So, I got a raspberry pie out and some sort of cables and audio interface things that and just cobbled together a solution.
Interviewer: How long did that take you?
Pete: I spent almost 3-4 weeks really initially. Just making something make some noise somewhere
Interviewer: Yeah, must have been a Eureka moment when you first had a sound come out of the wireless speakers.
Pete: Yeah, absolutely. It was kind of the revelation. I'm not going to lie, it was a real sense of accomplishment. So yeah, I brought it to the board of the company I work with and they thought it was a great idea and if you can't launch to go off and develop something and a couple of years later and presto.
Interviewer: And obviously being a sound engineer by trade what were the most important things that you wanted to instill in the product? What were the key features that you held most dear to you when you were creating and trying to recreate analogue audio to a digital format?
Pete: So, primarily for me it's about audio quality. So, you know, I.. I that's my job. So yeah, I needed to imbue that into anything that I was going to kind of create and put out to a consumer. Aside from that it had to be really easy to use and it had to work with everything yeah, that people might have.
Interviewer: Fantastic. And so it's available on what formats? It's on iOS and Android?
Pete: Yes, that's right.
Interviewer: And basically you, as far as I understand it, you just connect your A2D2 to your analogue equipment and then on your smartphone where you find all of your wireless features and then you just literally connect the two dots basically.
Pete: Yeah, tap play on the speaker you want to hear your record player on and
Interviewer: Fantastic
Pete: Off you go.
Interviewer: Couldn't be simpler. Amazing, well that's the backstory.
