BRIT Awards 2024: This Year’s Nominees That Have Historically Had the Most Success

The highly anticipated BRIT Awards are upon us, celebrating the best in British and international music. With nominations just announced, the excitement is buzzing. This got us wondering which of this year’s nominees have historically had the most appearances at the Brit Awards, and who has taken home the most trophies.

UK Artists Dominating the Nominations

  • Ed Sheeran: This year’s most successful nominee is a consistent frontrunner and holds an incredible 22 nominations and seven Brit Award wins throughout his career. This year, he's up for British Male Solo Artist, and British Songwriter of the Year, and for a staggering fourth time, he has been nominated for Song of the Year. Can he add to his collection?

  • Dua Lipa: The Queen of Pop isn't far behind with an impressive 16 total nominations and six wins. This year, she's nominated for British Female Solo Artist again, competing with the likes of FKA Twigs and Florence + the Machine. She's also up for Best Pop/R&B Act and International Song of the Year. She will also be performing live at the awards.

  • Blur: The Britpop legends hold the record for most nominations as a group with 20 in total, five of which were wins. This year, their nomination for Group of the Year brings them back to the awards for the first time in twelve years, since their nomination for their outstanding contribution to music in 2012. In 1995, Blur won four Brit Awards, which is the most any artist has won in a single Brits ceremony. This makes them one of the most successful acts at the awards.

Leading International Artists

  • Foo Fighters: The American rock band has a total of nine nominations and five wins at the Brit Awards. This year, they're hoping to add to their international accolades as they have been nominated for International Group, can they win it for a fifth time?

  • Kylie Minogue: As an Australian pop icon, Kylie Minogue has achieved significant recognition with 13 nominations and four wins at the Brit Awards. This year, she is celebrated with the prestigious Global Icon award, recognising her significant contributions to the music industry over the years and a reminder of her status as a pop music legend.
  • Billie Eilish: The international sensation, has quickly made a significant impact on the global music scene. With five nominations and three wins at the Brit Awards, she has proven to be a formidable young artist. This year, she is in the running for International Female Solo Artist and International Song of the Year.

This Year’s Shining Star

  • Raye: The Brit-school alumni, made history this year with a record-breaking seven nominations in a single year. She is nominated for Artist of the Year, Mastercard Album of the Year, Best New Artist, Pop Act, R&B Act, and for Song of the Year - in which she receives two nominations, for ‘Prada’ with cassö and D-Block Europe, and for ‘Escapism’ ft 0207 Shakee. Raye has also been announced as the second live performer after Dua Lipa.

Predicted Winners

Of course, RAYE, with her seven nominations, is a strong contender across multiple categories. Her unique blend of R&B and pop, coupled with her impactful lyrics, makes her a favourite for at least one win, if not more. Dua Lipa, another strong contender, continues to dominate the pop scene with her infectious tunes and is likely to add to her already impressive BRITs tally. Newer to the block, Central Cee, known for his innovative approach to British rap and grime, has also caught the eye of the music industry this year and is up for two awards. Meanwhile, how can we forget about international superstar Taylor Swift, who is making waves at the moment with her Eras tour and critically acclaimed album. She is also expected to be a frontrunner in the International Artist category this year.
